Ways to Give
Support is needed to keep The Nebraska Masonic Home strong
The Nebraska Masonic Home has been made possible by the generosity of people like you!
Steven R. Barchus
Since we opened our doors in 1903, there has been an outpouring of support by generous donors like you. These donations allow us to continue our mission of being the best continuing care retirement community in Nebraska.
The obligations Masons take when becoming a Mason are to help, aid and assist their distressed worthy brothers, their widows, and orphans. This is real and the need never goes away.
With your help, we can honor the obligations we took and be able to provide gracious assisted living, and quality long term care to our brothers, sisters and friends.
Reasons for giving are as varied as the people who give. Many of us feel a need to improve the lives of people around us. Every gift sent to us, no matter how large or small, helps us maintain this grand Home and provide top-notch care for our residents. All donations make a difference and can be made by credit card through our secure online site. For other gifts, please mail to The Nebraska Masonic Home Foundation at 1300 Avenue D, Plattsmouth, NE 68048. If you wish to make a planned gift through your estate and would like assistance, please feel free to contact us.
We show our appreciation for gifts received by recognizing those who support our mission as members of The Caring Club, The George W. Lininger Society, or as The Tree of Life Donors.
Thank you again for making a positive impact on The Nebraska Masonic Home. This is the true meaning of Masonry in Nebraska.

Gifts of Cash
Caring Club: A cumulative gift of $250 or more made from September 1st through August 31st entitles you, the donor, to be recognized as a member of The Caring Club.
Assets, Wills & Beneficiaries
Gifts from Retirement Funds: You can name The Nebraska Masonic Home Foundation as a beneficiary of your 401K, IRA or other type of retirement account. This will avoid the potential double taxation of the estate tax and income tax that your heirs would pay.
Gifts of Appreciated Assets: Transfer stocks, bonds or mutual funds that have appreciated in value to The Nebraska Masonic Home Foundation. The Foundation then sells your appreciated assets and uses them to further its Mission. You receive an income tax charitable deduction based on the fair market value of the asset on the date of transfer no matter what you paid for it.
Gifts of Real Estate: The Foundation will also accept gifts of real estate under certain circumstances.
Bank Accounts and CDs: Though not considered appreciated assets, bank accounts and certificates of deposit can also be easily transferred to The Foundation.
Gifts of Life Insurance: The use of life insurance policies to make your gift to support the residents can be done without having to reach for your checkbook. Simply name The Foundation as a beneficiary of an existing policy. You continue to pay the premium to enhance the endowment fund; name The Foundation as a Beneficiary of a group term life insurance policy or assign your annual dividends on your policy to The Foundation.
Charitable Trusts
Charitable Remainder Unitrust: Securities or other appreciated assets are transferred to a Unitrust. A percentage of the principal is paid to The Foundation until the trust terminates. At that time the remaining principal is paid to The Nebraska Masonic Home Foundation.
Charitable Reminder Annuity Trust: Securities and other appreciated assets are transferred to the Annuity Trust. The Trust pays a fixed rate of income to you or to your beneficiaries. When the trust terminates, the remaining principal is paid to The Nebraska Masonic Home Foundation.
You will receive income for life or a specified number of years with the Unitrust and Annuity Trusts.
Charitable Lead Trust: Securities and other appreciated properties are transferred to the Lead Trust. The Lead Trust pays the income to The Nebraska Masonic Home Foundation for a specified period of time. The remaining principal is paid to your heirs.
The Tree of Life
Funds from The Tree of Life are placed in an investment account and restricted for partial or fully subsidized payment for the monthly Resident Service Fee of those residents whose funds have been depleted.
DONOR SPOTLIGHT
Dave Knutson, Omaha, NE
EEK! I turned 70 this year. What is my future? Answer: Planning! Since my retirement, I wanted to move forward and enjoy life and not be a burden to my children. I have been involved with The Masonic Home since the mid 70’s and am honored to serve on the Board of Trustees. My commitment to The Home became a reality when my mother was a resident. What a great experience for her and my family for her to receive care in an enjoyable environment. The Nebraska Masonic Home is in my future, and I ask my brother Masons and family for The Masonic Home to be in your plans.
